Creating a Safer Front Yard Along a Busy Street
This client was concerned about high speed traffic near their home. Twice in the past year a truck has run off of the road and damaged the hedges around this residence. The owner is worried for the safety of his grandchildren, and while hedges can be replaced, loved ones cannot be. He requested an innovative solution for the safety of his family that was also stylistic for the residence. A fence design has been proposed.
Creating a Backyard Getaway in a Small Midwestern Space
This project is in Downtown Cincinnati in a small neighborhood. This urban backyard was once an extension, but was removed when the house was renovated last year. The fireplace is the only remaining evidence of this extension. The client was interested in creating a backyard "living room" with distinct Mediterranean influences.
The Final Concept
Below is a 3D video walk-thru of the final design for the space. The space showcases all of the desired features of the client. Light and mobile wicker chairs make for easy reconfiguration. A stone fire pit gives the illusion of a fireplace without directing any smoke up the flue. The air conditioning and heating units have been hidden by a light fence that is evenly spaced to allow for air flow. Large planters have been added to provide greenery in the space and accommodate a medium sized potted tree. The exterior fence has been changed for a different fencing concept with staggered panels to allow light through, but block sight lines into the adjacent alleyway.
